Description

Acyclovir (Zovirax) is an analogue of a purine dezoksiguanidina nucleoside, a normal component of DNA.

The similarity of structures and acyclovir acyclovir dezoksiguanidina allows to interact with viral enzymes, which leads to disruption of viral replication. After the introduction of acyclovir into a herpes thymidine kinase affected cell under the influence of the released virus, acyclovir is converted into acyclovir monophosphate, which by the host cell is transformed into enzymes acyclovir diphosphate and then into the active form of acyclovir triphosphate, which blocks the conversion of viral DNA. The drug acts selectively on viral DNA synthesis. DNA replication of hoeyaina cells (human cells) to acyclovir triphosphate has virtually no effect.

Acyclovir generally well tolerated. Ingestion Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, allergic skin reactions, fatigue and intravenous administration and ingestion – increases in serum urea, creatinine and bilirubin, increase in liver enzymes.
After contact with solutions of acyclovir in the subcutaneous fatty tissue, a local reaction.
Acyclovir tablets caused by the herpes simplex virus are prescribed for infections of the skin and mucous membranes, and for the prevention of these diseases in patients with weakened immune systems and in patients with shingles – with a normal immune system.

Adults with infections caused by the herpes simplex virus, give 1 tablet (0.2 g) 5 times a day (except at night), and for prevention – 1 tablet 4 times a day , Shingles – 4 tablets ( 0.8 g) 5 times a day.

Against acyclovir:

Particularity. The admissibility of pregnancy and lactation has not been studied.
